University of Freiburg

It is one of the few German universities that offer a bachelor’s degree program taught in English, allowing international students to pursue either a Bachelor of Arts (BA) or a Bachelor of Science (BSc), depending on their major. In the 2020 QS World University Rankings®, Universität Freiburg is placed at 169th, reflecting its excellent global reputation.

The Bachelor of Arts(BA) and the Bachelor of Science(BSc) undergraduate programs have a duration of four years. These two programs come under Liberal Arts and Sciences. The degree is BA or B.Sc depending on the choice of Major. They offer 22 Master’s degree programs. Some of these include M.Sc in Applied Physics, M.A in British ad North American Cultural Studies etc. The duration of MA programs is two years, while M.Sc is four years.

The University of Göttingen

The 181st-ranked university in the world, The University of Gottingen offers an English-taught BSc in Molecular Ecosystem Sciences. The B.Sc in Ecosystem is a three-year interdisciplinary research-based program. It is the only undergraduate program taught entirely in English at this university.

Most of the English language programs are at the PhD level, with half of them having English as the language of instruction. Some popular programs at the PhD level include Geography, Transformation of Global Agrifood Systems etc. At the Master’s level, popular English language programs include MA in Development Economics, M.Sc. in Biodiversity, Ecology and Evolution etc.

Leipzig University

The Universitat Leipzig, which lies between 531 and 540 in the current international rankings, offers English-language programs such as a BA in American Studies and a B.Sc in International Physics Studies. The BA in American Studies is a two years program with only four semesters, while B.Sc in International Physics Studies is a four years program with eight semesters.

Apart from two undergraduate programs, other English-taught programs are at the Master’s level. Two programs are offered at the Master’s level- MA and M.Sc. The M.Sc program has a duration of four years and eight semesters, while the MA program is for two years and four years.

Berlin International University of Applied Sciences

This University of Applied Sciences offers English-language instruction for all programs. However, you will be responsible for paying €7,200 ($8,050) in tuition. They provide courses in two faculties: business administration and architecture.

The range of English-taught programs in Germany includes a Master of Business Administration (MBA), an MA in Interior Design, a BA in Interior Design, a BA in Architecture, a BA in Product Design, a BA in Graphic Design & Visual Communication, as well as BA in Business Administration. Within the BA Business Administration program, students can choose to focus on either International Management and Marketing or Organizational Psychology and Digital Business & Management as separate programs.

Rhine-Waal University of Applied Sciences

Rhine-Waal Institution of Applied Sciences is a public institution with a focus on global issues. It offers a number of bachelor’s degrees taught in English, including ones in gender diversity, sustainable tourism, and international relations.

Some popular English-speaking programs offered include Bachelor of Science in International Business Administration, Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering, Bachelor of Science in Sustainable Agriculture, Master of Science in Information Engineering, Master of Science in Biomaterials and Bioprocessing etc. The master’s program offered has a duration of two years, while the undergraduate program has a duration ranging from three to three and a half years.

Other Options

There are other universities as well which offer English-language courses, but the ones mentioned are the most popular universities. The other top universities that can be considered include Heidelberg University, Ludwig Maximilian University of Munich, and Humboldt University of Berlin among others.
